U2 and Art in 2008

October 14, 2008

U2 tickets and the U2 concert tour were preceded by more U2 news this year – namely that the Irish group auctioned off a painting by artist Jean-Michel Basquiat for a multi-million dollar price tag. Adam Clayton discovered the artwork almost two decades ago. U2 bought the painting and hung it in their recording studio. The picture sold for over 6 million Euros. This is yet another example of U2’s fine tastes when it comes to the creative world. The six-foot square painting, which features one of Basquiat’s trademark abstract, chaotic figures, was auctioned off at Sotheby’s. Some U2 associated artwork can be found at U2 Wanderer.org. I recommend you visit the site and check it out!

U2 2009 Tour

October 14, 2008

The rumors are flying about the U2 concert dates being released very soon and we U2 nuts are looking forward to it more than any U2 tour in recent memory! I will be posting U2 tickets on this site as soon as they become available (and when I already have mine :) ). A friend of mine who lives in Dublin says that Bono and the boys seemed about to throw it all in recently – they were so sick of sightseers mobbing their homes and gardens – and then all of a sudden, talk of U2 tickets is hot again.
Dublin is a rocking city, to be sure, and U2 have certainly contributed to that atmosphere. U2 have been described as Ireland’s most famous export and it is easy to believe this! There are many “U2 landmarks” around Dublin, like the eco-friendly U2 Tower designed by Norman Foster. The huge tower will have a recording studio on top of it and will be the tallest building in ireland. The Clarence Hotel is another U2 monument – at least it is now it belongs to Bono and The Edge. My personal favorite U2 haunt is Claddagh Records, where U2 recorded Achtung Baby, my second-favorite album.
But the boys are set to leave Dublin behind them once again. The U2 tickets will be printed soon and the venues will all be prepared. I don’t think I’ll ever get sick of seeing and hearing U2 live. So bring it on!

U2 Live

October 9, 2008

A U2 live show condenses everything good about rock ‘n’ roll from the last 50 years and explodes it onstage like a near-religious vision. This U2 concert tour is destined to be a milestone in the band’s journey; following numerous side-projects, rumors and counter-rumors, U2 tickets are going onsale and we will see our heroes perform once again.
